How To Harness Lunar New Year Energy

How To Harness Lunar New Year Energy

Learn 5 ways to harness the new lunar year energy and increase your capacity to manifest success and abundance into your year ahead!

Happy new year – again! It feels weird right?

Instead of celebrating the Gregorian calendar, I find myself aligning with the cycle of the seasons – the lunar cycle and lunar calendar.

What is the Lunar New Year?

Lunar New Year is the beginning of a lunar calendar or lunisolar calendar year, whose months are moon cycles.

Lunar New Year is traditionally the celebration of the arrival of spring – think about the energy of spring, everything is vibrant and abundant energy.

I think what’s even better is the celebrations extend from now to mid February – yep a whole month of celebration prosperity and abundance!

The Lunar New Year is also known in Chinese culture as the Chinese New year. Celebrations continue until the lantern festival is scheduled for 5 February!

That’s a whole lot of fireworks!

Why utilise the Lunar New Year energy?

For me, this means dedicating moments each day to my annual dharma intention. I revisit all of the anchors I’ve created in my daily rituals to ensure I am absolutely aligned with the annual intention I set for myself.

On the whole, I’m all sorted, but there is always space for refinement and expansion as each ritual becomes a subconscious habit.

Just taking myself through this process of revisiting all the ways I self-care is reinforcing my commitment. It’s strengthening the energetic alignment of my annual intention – to be peaceful, full of peace.

This isn’t a shaming exercise. This is your invitation to revisit your intention.

When you revisit that wish for your dream life and then do something about it there is a transition. You energetically move from dream to goal.

When you begin implementing small actions to create the new habit of the dream, you are activating the Law of Attraction. In other words, every time you practice your alignment to the dream, in some small way you are embodying the energy of the dream life you’re wanting.

What I’m seeing already in January is rapid delivery of what I ask for – are you feeling this too? Or perhaps you are still shedding the remnants of last year.

What’s special about this year, is we are transitioning into a massive energetic shift, of more harmony within the community. The timing couldn’t be more divine to shift out of the last vestiges of the old paradigm.

And the best bit … unlike the gregorian new years eve, we’ve got time to implement our rituals! Go nuts!

Here are 5 Ways to Harness the Lunar New Year Energy!

1. There’s a need to physically declutter.

Having your stuff piled up around your home stagnates your energy.

Find a permanent home for it. Don’t move items around your space. When you don’t dedicate a space for an item, there is an element of disrespect for the abundance you have received.

When you continue to procrastinate relocating the item there is an avoidance energy that builds. This negative vibe grows like cancer. Every time you look at the unhoused item, you likely chastise yourself — and the negativity builds.

The aim is clear pathways, to allow free bodily movement, rather than obstruct it. This replicates the movement of chi within your body within meridians and in between chakras (energy centres).

Decluttering your physical space, especially after Christmas, clears your energy for the new year. Now that we have a new moon upon us, the energy for manifesting what you want is ripe.

2. Cleanse doorways & entrances

Today I’m washing the entrances to my home. Yep washing away any debris from the previous year.

I’m using a combination of water that I have  filtered and applied reiki.

To this water, I’ve added some witchy poo concoctions –

Aromatherapy to both ground my physical body, and expand conscious awareness.

Australian Bush Flower Essence Space Clearing essences.

And then the literal scrubbing begins. Everything gets washed, cleaned and cleansed.

3. Smudge The Space

Smudging is the ritual of cleaning the energy of a physical space, object or person. If you have a meditation ritual, you can burn Sage or Palo Santo before your practice. This will help prepare your energy and mind for meditation and allow you to connect to your heart space.

I burn incense the entire time I’m cleaning and clearing. The energetic shifts are palpable, and I find myself working more consistently and efficiently.

Decluttering the energetic vibe of your space deletes negativity. It supports you to let go of anything that no longer serves your higher purpose.

Smudging is like clearing the energetic highway to manifest your deepest desires.

4. Play Space Clearing Music

The heart resonance of sound is very powerful. There are a number of methods to use sound to heal a space

  • Recorded music — play tracks that have powerful meaning to you, and play it loud. Whilst there is no hard and fast rule for what you play, ideally, that music can either be instrumental or include words that resonate with your intention for the space you are clearing.
  • Singing bowls — are a powerful tool for space clearing. Tibetan bowls are said to “have a sound that has the ability to bring everything back to a centre of stillness.” Notice how your energy responds to it.
  • Singing— Our voice is unique like a fingerprint and is a source of individual power. The resonance of your voice links with your ability to speak your truth and stand up for what you believe in.
  • Chanting — Using the power of your voice, you might use words or phrases, or you may work with tones and different sounds. A space-claiming statement might be a great place to start –

This is my space, it is sacred to me. I own my sacred space 100%. It is my intention that no one, and nothing can enter my space unless I give them permission on a conscious level.

5. Build an Alter

I’ve created a dedicated space, and called it an altar. I have placed a pattern of precious items including a love letter to the universe of what my dreams for this year contain.

There’s a big arse crystal and a multitude of candles.

There are affirmations that I change daily (best way to repurpose positive calendars!).

It’s completely woo and greets you at the entrance. It would be easier some days to have a big neon sign that stated “witchypoo lives here”.

But here’s the thing. It’s a sensory reminder of who I am, at the essence of my core. It represents my prayers for the dream life I am manifesting and calling to me.

Every time I look, smell and listen I’m reminded. I’m constantly focussing on all that good juju.

Conclusion

So this is your invitation to ride the high vibe energy and reclaim your space.

Use these five easy tips to invite the energy into your home and continue stepping closer to your dreams!

4 Questions To Answer The Call Of Your Dream Life?

4 Questions To Answer The Call Of Your Dream Life?

When was the last time you actively connected with the dream of the life you want to live? No faffing about. I’m being serious now.

Let me ask you these coaching questions …

When was the last time you dedicated even just ten minutes to connecting to that dream of your ideal life?

How often are you making yourself so busy to the point of distraction and avoidance of what you really want?

Why are you making yourself busy pleasing everyone else first?

Answering these questions can feel confronting. I get it.

The reality is that one of the most common replies made by my clients is this — “I don’t have time”.

I always pause the conversation by calling bullshit. Then I asked the individual “what would Dr Phil say to that statement?

I generally receive a quizzical look from the client. I always continue with Dr Phil’s classic question “how’s that working for you?

It’s at this point of a clinical session, that the coaching begins. If you haven’t been doing your personal journey work, these questions may feel like I’m slapping you with a fish.

NYE isn’t a reset, it’s a milestone reminder.

It’s the perfect gift to reassess where you’re at in relation to working towards living your dream life.

Instead of making NYE resolutions, as a Change Facilitator, I recommend you ask yourself these four questions.

1. What is the exact vision of my dream life?

Is the picture of your dream life crystal clear? I’m not talking about you picturing yourself winning Tattslotto.

I’m asking you whether you can the vision clearly. Can you see what you’re doing in the dream? Who are you with, sharing the dream life?

2. What are the new habits?

When you assess the vision of the dream life, take a really good look and explore what you’re doing. Examine the habits required to be achieving success — this is the path you’ll need to be walking.

3. What small actions can be implemented to create new habits?

Habits are simply a bunch of small actions mushed together on a consistent basis.

For example, when you first train to walk a marathon there’s no running involved. You begin by putting your shoes on every morning and walking to the front door. Do that for a week, and progress to the letter box. And then walk around the block.

You can see where I’m going with this — master the little steps until it becomes unconscious muscle memory and progress to the next milestone. Living the dream is no different. The key is to implement small actions and where ever possible!

4. Can you connect with how the dream feels?

When you connect with the feels of living your dream life, you create conscious evidence that your dream is real AND can be achieved. That’s a motivating distinction.

Every time you step towards your dream, and those feelings, you are magnifying the energy associated with what you want — at a soul level. Chase those joy bubbles everywhere!

Conclusion

Remember this. Every year is your year. What you learn from the experiences each year is a conscious choice to continue striving to live the dream you desire.

Imagine how different life could be if you approached it with the enthusiasm of the new year.

5 Ways To Declutter After Christmas

5 Ways To Declutter After Christmas

Clear Your Space & Your Vibe

Do you declutter after Christmas when you pull down the tree?

Ever get a tingle when the vibe isn’t quite right? Feeling heavy or dense? Do you have episodes of feeling stagnant or stuck? Procrastinate much? Is there a palpable tension in the air after specific visitors? How is the clarity in making your decisions?

Tick yes to any of those questions?

Thanks to social media, we have become complacent about showing up in their lives.

We crave the tiny bit of dopamine received from the ‘likes’ and numbers on our Instagram accounts, yet we suffer anxiety from ignoring all the signals from our bodies.

It’s so easy to become trapped in the vortex of comparing yourself to others. It’s so easy to ignore that intuitive voice inside you, and simply do what everyone else is doing. It’s easy to make your container smaller.

Perhaps your vibrational energy needs clearing!

We are so much more than just flesh and bones. The space around us is a reflection of the energy within us. Both are dependent upon each other to function optimally.

Now that the rushing and running have been completed, and the food has been cooked and eaten. The preparation is complete. But there is still a little more to do to prepare for next year.

The week after Christmas could be called seal week — slothing around eating leftovers and binge-watching TV. It could be so easy to chuck everything away and start over. You could very easily sloth the summer away — right?

1. Review is golden

In my initial years of employment, I worked as a management systems expert and auditor. I learnt the importance of always wrapping up a project with a quick review of how well you went.

The review isn’t an ego act. It’s a performance review of what works and frankly, what doesn’t. You need to let go of anything that doesn’t make your life flow with ease.

I make a dot-point list of where I got certain foods, gifts and services. I include on this list the dates I acquired these adored services and make key notes in next year’s diary.

I use those identified dates to create electronic reminders a month prior to the first planning date. This prompts me to cash in my frequent flyer rewards points and purchase vouchers.

This has a dual effect on positive vibes for the next festive season by expressing gratitude for the following:

  • generating income to make purchases that accrue rewards points
  • using vouchers to purchase high-end groceries and special food treats for the next festive season
  • decluttering the planning process by simply repeating what has worked time and time again. Rinse and repeat!

Decluttering after Christmas, review all your preparatory actions. Considering all the steps, that will save you thinking time and energy next year.

2. Pack Stuff Up

3. Embracing the “KonMari method”

Mari Kondo’s method consists of gathering together all of your belongings, one category at a time, and then only holding onto those objects that “spark joy”. The gift of this method incorporates cleaning, organising and treasuring what you have, no matter the monetary value.

Once I’ve stowed away the used packaging, wrapping supplies, and cards, everything goes into labelled storage containers. I’m expressing gratitude the entire time.

Once I’m done with the Christmas items, I move on to things I have received or purchased during the holiday season (like Black Friday sales).

Since you have new items, you’re more likely to be okay with letting go of some of the older ones.

The festive season gifts you the opportunity to be grateful for all the abundance you have accrued, and revisit what you –

  • keep
  • repurpose
  • gift to charity
  • throw away

Decluttering is another opportunity to feel and express joy and gratitude for your belongings. Consciously choosing to embrace or release items, clears your energy of what you are attached to.

Decluttering your posessions at the completion of the festive season is yet another celebration of joy in your life.

4. Smudge Your Space

Smudging is the ritual of cleaning the energy of a physical space, object or person. If you have a meditation ritual, you can burn Sage or Palo Santo before your practice. This will help prepare your energy and mind for meditation and allow you to connect to your heart space.

I burn incense the entire time I’m decluttering. The energetic shifts are palpable, and I find myself working more consistently and efficiently. The avoidance of clearing through the stuff dissipates.

Decluttering the energetic vibe of your space deletes negativity.

Conclusion

Go reclaim your space now that you’ve tidied up, stowed away and stored all your precious items is important. What better time than wrapping up a yearly cycle by letting go of that which no longer serves you, and creating space for new opportunities? The easiest way is to declutter your space after Christmas.

8 Hot Tips How To Journal

8 Tips on How to Express Yourself in a Journal

Bridgette Jones thought she did it when she wrote in her Dear Diary, but all she was really doing was invalidating herself with a list of her daily failures. Whilst those movies were hilariously funny, it always pained me with sadness as I watched her wallow in her stuff.

There is so much positive power to be gained from the art of journaling. It literally gifts you the opportunity to speak your inner truth.

When we utilise our journal properly, we are purging the crap literally out of our subconscious and onto paper. This purging allows us to connect to the emotions of the challenge we are currently facing. Journaling allows the connection to be conscious and defines what we are feeling.

Once the crud emotions are out in the open, we can then examine them and the patterns we run associated with them. This exploration can be a revelation into your subsequent reactive behaviours and provide you with clues to make changes and heal from previous painful experiences.

The hidden benefit of journaling is this, it is like going to an appointment with your talking therapist. You get to bring up all the stuff at your pace. You get to tell the story on those pages without judgement. Best of all you aren’t burdening any of your friends and family with your crap. You are in control.

Therefore journaling is like being your own coach. Journalling can be a fabulous tool to unpack and explore what your dream life might look like. You can use journalling to create the future you want.

Let me begin with a caveat with journalling — if after writing about the issue (person, event or issue) that you don’t feel lighter, this is the time to take quick action. Reach out for help to decipher where you are stuck in your feelings. Seek a different viewpoint on the mountain you probably feel you are climbing.

This reaching out might be with a mate, a workplace counsellor, your trusted GP, a counsellor, a psychologist, or someone like myself who is a kinesiology practitioner. Everyone has their preferred ‘go-to’ person, and that would be the time to reach out after you’ve had the first crack at solving the problem.

Remember this, if you are seeking a practitioner's support, there are only two rules:

  1. You must connect with the other person with implicit trust
  2. You should feel some relief or process at the completion of a session.

Journalling is self-expression. It gives you permission to express what you can’t voice out aloud. The art of journaling enables you to explore the deeper levels associated with various perspectives of your life.

For me personally, it’s like walking into a dark room (ie the challenge I am experiencing), and granting myself permission to turn on the switch which floods the space with light, illuminating the hidden treasure.

“The more light you allow within you, the brighter the world you live in will be.” ~Shakti Gawain

Journaling can be a raw, beautiful in its process, and there are no rules for it to work. It’s all on your terms. Some people find they require rules to abide by to get started. So let me gift you eight ideas of how best to get started, or expand on your creative expression.

Tip #1 Gratitude Journaling

Sometimes when we’ve had our Negative Nancy pants on for a while, it’s very challenging to shine a light on any positive. Sometimes the experiences in our life are just so traumatic or overwhelming that it’s not quite safe enough for us to explore that yet.

Gratitude journaling is a safe place to challenge you to cultivate a new attitude of positivity in your life. You get to document things you appreciate. For some who feel stuck, this can be very challenging so I always suggest start simple.

“I am grateful for waking up today. I am grateful for there being food in my fridge, for the car to transport my family safely from A to B. I’m grateful for the job that I have which enables me to pay my bills. I’m grateful that my current job teaches me lessons of where I’m valued (or not) and inspires me to make changes”.

One of my mentors, Caitlin Grace, keeps her gratitude journal separately to that of her regular journal. This is her sacred space to record and give thanks for all the abundance in her life. For me personally, I like to start with gratitude entries and then explore what has been challenging me.

Tip #2 Affirmation Cards

Your journal may incorporate utilising motivational or inspirational cards. This is where you pull a card from your preferred deck of cards (and there is no limit to what floats your boat here), and write the uplifting quote and what that means to you. You get to explore how you could change a thought or behavioural process to adopt that intention in your life.

I utilise a myriad of card decks by Kyle Gray, Gabriella Bernstein, Angels and Masters etc. I allow my intuition to guide me on where I require insight or wisdom or a prompt from the universe.

The other joyous gift of keeping a separate gratitude journal is that any time you are feeling down and need a boost of positive, you get to read through your happiness entries and lift yourself up.

Tip #3 Self Enquiry & Reflective Journaling

The style of self-enquiry and reflection journaling enables you to explore facets of daily life and its issues. When we are in the thick of the moment, you may not be able to explore all of your feelings at once. You may not reflect on your behaviour at first glance because you’ve been busy reacting.

Journaling about your living situation, your work, and your relationships is a lovely safe place to explore topical emotions and feelings. Are you right where you want to be to live your dream life? Do you have all the right feels?

Tip #4 Grant Permission to Your Inner Child to Express

So what is our inner child? Popular psychology defines our inner child as an individual’s childlike aspect. This includes what we have learned when we were a child, before puberty. We can perceive the inner child as a semi-independent sub-personality subordinate to the waking conscious mind.

And so now you’re probably wondering how to connect with your inner child? I learnt the following techniques in a Louise Hay “Heal Your Life” workshop:

  1. Write in your dominant hand, expressing out all the feels or asking a question. Then swap to non-dominant hand to allow the inner child a voice to respond. Often there are no words, but scribble or demonstration of the emotion(s).

 2. Write a letter to him or her. The more connected you are with your inner child, the stronger your intuition becomes. Sometimes it’s simply not safe to be able to confront someone who’s done wrong by you. Write them a ‘fuck you’ letter.

3. Say nurturing things(I love you, I hear you, thank you, I’m sorry). Document how easy or difficult it is to speak positively to yourself as a child. Explore whether you feel deserving and worthy.

4. Look at photos of yourself as a child. Document the emotions associated with those memories.

5. Think and write about what you loved doing when you were young. Alternatively, capture what wasn’t great about your childhood and how you have now made changes as an adult.

6. Engage in meditation and creative visualization. I often guide clients into their heart space to have connective conversations with their inner child to gain clarity and insight into the source of current day patterns. This type of connection is powerful and quickly enhances self-confidence and intuition if you maintain regular dedication.

Beginning a dialogue with your inner child by writing in your subdominant hand, and answering with your dominant hand is a powerful tool which enables you to capture any issues that emerge.

Tip #5 Be Compassionate to Yourself

We are all deserving of more self-compassion. Modern society has definitely instilled comparisonitis within our fast-paced lives. This type of journaling enables you to shine compassion on your past.

When reflecting on a specific memory, incident, trigger, or person, can you ask yourself for forgiveness? Did you do the very best you could? Have you been able to make changes, so it doesn’t happen again or are you stuck? Does shedding light on that previous situation now provide you with more clarity of where you have matured or need growth in your life?

Remind yourself it’s all ok. You are doing the very best you can with the circumstances you had previously. Acknowledge that the only thing you can change is right now. Your past is the gift of experience(s) and where you’ve potentially learnt lessons.

Tip #7 Embrace Nature

I find this is a useful style of journaling to get people out of their heads and connect with nature. There are times our internal defence mechanisms shut down our thoughts and feelings because we’re stuck in flight or fight and have simply become numb.

A walk outside, or simply lying the grass and looking at the clouds and then writing about the experience can be a gentle method to bring you back connection with your senses.

Tip #8 Capture Your Successes

This is a fantastic tool for those who beat themselves with the victim stick and feel stuck in their stuff. This tool is great if you’ve focused too heavily on poor me or nothing ever works out for me. We have all experienced this at one stage or another.

To kick start this style of journaling, begin by writing anything that could be construed as a win. For some, this may begin with simply getting out of bed and showering. For others, it could include consume less sugar in a day, smoking or drinking less.

The more you focus on your success, the more you will seek the positive aspects of your life. As you pay attention, your list will grow and inspire you.
